Firstly, I think it is remiss of the reviewer to comment on a play and not mention the performance of the lead at all. James Gauci delivers a commendable performance. The role of Yossarian is not an easy one and his committment to Yossarian's journey really shines through. I think he worked damn hard!

I also don't think the reviewer really "got" many points in the show. The so-called "laboured" second act is a product of the script (which he then goes on to describe as "brilliant" so I am not sure what was going on there). The act is written so as to make the point that war IS drawn out, it IS senseless and it WILL send a man mad, if he lets it. I think the parallels here were particularly well handled. Sure, I will admit some scenes did appear to be slightly protracted, but in my mind these were mainly the comedic scenes, that could stand to have quicker dialogue pace. But that's only if I am really nitpicking.

The cast were a cohesive unit and the swing from comedy to drama was smooth. And Yossarian punching Nately's whore in the face... wow!

I thought the show was great. You will either love it or hate it though, because of its very absurdist core. And that's my two cents.

I thought the play itself was shite. Boring and too long. Acting was awesome but. REally funny

I don't think it was remiss of this reviewer to not mention the lead actor, I think he summed it up with 'Often times more cynical than satirical'. He probably lives by 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all' principles and I don't think he contradicts himself when referring to the script, I think this is your error. He refers to the script as brilliant but the performance as laboured and this is something for the director to address. I do agree that the actors worked very hard, I just think they didn't 'get' it either so there was no chance for the reviewer to 'get' it based on what was portrayed. I also agree that the chaplain and psychiatrist were the superior characters but in act two I was more interested in how much creaking my seat could have made should I have made an early exit and visited the bar, and this doesn't make me want to return to this theatre in hurry, unfortunately.

Definitely. We were discussing this in the old NEW GROUND section. I definitely want superheroes flying around the stages taking down androids at full speed with captivating explosions, even if it's in an arena and I have to pay two hundred dollars. Concerts from the world's leading bands are fast approaching pure, high speed entertainment of a very high calibre, but there's no story line, and that's what theatre people love.

:certainty:

Don't worry guys, I'll write you a Techno Musical and replace the DJ with a structured storyline. It'll be performed on pillars in a rave warehouse filled with lasers, pyrotechnics and awesome video projection onto shaped water vapour on a massive scale.

Here's a video from Me and four others that I filmed on my iPhone. I would normally film on my Sony Z1P High Definition (seven grand) camera, but this new shiny thing was in my pocket and I wanted to test it. No zoom. Funnny show with some decent singers.

SLAMS is putting on a motown, barbershop and 90s boyband competition this Friday, 19th March until Saturday, 27th March.

Indulge in champagne and nibblies at your table while the three groups compete for your vote. It's at the Knox community arts centre on the corner of Scoresby Road and Mountain Highway Bayswater, Melbourne at 19:30 for five performances only.

Get back to the hits of yesteryear and enjoy the memories as SLAMS invites you to tap your feet to SUITS: Battle of the harmonies.

I am presently the highest-ranked player of 'The Game' on the internet as I have developed the ranking system; amongst other aspects. I have faced some good opposition in the past and all have taught me something, but in all instances my challengers have failed - time-and-again - to see the big picture and raise the challenge of, The Game.

I choose to play within the 'Theatre Cordillera' - a theatre arena of my own description, encompassing my great talent, intelligence, and wisdom - which forms around me when I step out onto the battleground.

I have been lurking on this site for some time. Now that I have made my presence known by entering into the spotlight, it is likely I will hang 'round a bit to see where this adventure will go.

So who am I?

I am Daniel Moszkowicz, The Troll-King of Chatsitea. Pronounced chat-city, but read chat-site-a, taking the first letter in the alphabet. I am a master troll. The Troll-King within the Theatre Cordillera. As I've mentioned, I am presently the highest-ranked player and as such the greatest the internet has seen to date.

However, it is likely that only with an association of such fine players as I - can this whole concept of playing The Game reach the next level and become something more. (Internet whiz-kids are necessary, I do believe.)

Taking the calibre of player - I have faced in the past - as an indication of how long this process will take...it is likely to take a long time.

Nevertheless, perhaps some of you will surprise yourselves with your ability and The Game can finally take another step forward, even if it is on this site 2.0.

"Sigh.

I just want to get out of this hell hole I'm stuck in! Is that too much to ask? I mean, the armies are fast approaching, the G.I.'s are thinning out and to make matters worse, all my girls are starting to sag more and more with each passing day!

How am I supposed to sell these girls if they can't even get ME up?!"
- Tran Van Dihn aka. The Engineer.

---

For me, the role of the Engineer has been incredibly challenging, and at the same time, highly rewarding. There are not many roles that allow a performer to really sink your teeth in, and be absolutely loathed and loved by the audience at the same time.

The phone call after the audition took me by surprise... I didn't think I'd get it. I was crossing the street at the time, and the secretary said, "oh, by the way, we'd like you to play the Engineer", I froze. In the middle of the street.

In peak hour traffic.

The multitude of car horns honking in my direction jarringly bought me back to reality, where I finished my crossing and avoided disaster. I couldn't believe it.

Now, after more than a month of rehearsals, he's getting hard to shake. I leave the rehearsal, but find that the 'Engineery-ness' stays with me. It's a great feeling, because it says to me that I'm really going for it, and pushing myself to be the best I can.

It's funny, but I constantly feel as though the rest of the cast is watching, judging, and I'm always wondering if they're thinking 'Geez, I can do better than this putz...'. Some of you may think that I'm paranoid, but if you are, then you've obviously not done enough theatre.

While I won't discuss the direction or sets of the show here, I can say that the cast that I've been working closely with thus far, as well as the incredibly dedicated and committed production team, have made my job seamless. I know we've got a long way to go, but I know that it's only going to get easier. That, and having a hot cast of dancing girls to boss around is fun, too...

To Miss Saigon!

I found this on yourtango.com:

7 Traits Of Irresistible Men

It takes more than rock-solid abs to reach the top of the sexiness charts.

by Julie D. Andrews

We're not going to lie. A man boasting abs chiseled to perfection and biceps that pop just enough when flexed (without shredding shirts He-Man style) will no-doubt turn our heads. And even if caught mid check-him-out glance, we're not about to look away. Fit, toned bodies are the result of hard work and dedication to a healthy lifestyle. We certainly pay homage to that. But for a man to achieve a skyrocketing score on the sexiness scale there's got to be more to him than physical assets. Throw in these seven traits and he's guaranteed irresistible. Read: How To Choose A Husband

1. He Has Mastered The Wink. We don't know how they learn the technique but some guys really have the Richard Gere wink down pat. There's an art to this wink and getting it right can be tricky. It's more suave and smoky than cheeky and laughable. He's comfortable giving this signal and has the timing to the tee. Done right, this move is pure sexy. Caveat: The wink can be tricky to pull off. Practice first.

2. He Radiates Calm. It's sending shivers up our spine just thinking about how powerful a man's calm presence can be. Neurotic or hyper or frenzied is stressful, no matter how busy the man or what his excuse. But if he's got cool written all over his face and his gaze is pure steady and peaceful his sex appeal will shoot through the roof (think old-school James Dean). We women can unwillingly fall into the trap of over-worrying about things we can't control. A man who sets us at ease by reminding us how things always manage to work out in the end is absolutely hot.

3. He Takes Care Of Himself. Look, we're not saying it's a certain height or build that matters. If he keeps his body in relatively good shape this shows us he knows how to take care of himself. It also clues us in that he sets health as a priority. What's more, if he's active, working out even a few times a week, the endorphins his body is producing during gym sessions are sure to keep him in good spirits and energized. The bottom line: If he takes good care of himself he's likely to take good care of his partner (or at least help keep her motivated to do so). That's a turn-on.

4. He's Got Style. We don't want to give the wrong idea here. This is not to say he has to be one certain type of style, and that mimicking a prescribed "it" style is a surefire path to sexy (whether that's clean-cut, tattooed-up or punked-out). Not at all. Rather, what's attractive in a guy is that he has a style at all, a way of dressing that reflects in some way who he is and what he's into. A guy who wakes up hum-drum and throws the same dingy shirt and pair of jeans on every day? Not sexy. At all.

5. He Has A Manly Scent. Sounds so animalistic, we know. No man can control his natural scent, and it turns out our DNA compatibility dictates who smells good to us, anyway. But, every guy can augment his essence with a spritz (one will do just fine) of cologne. As long as it's not overdone, a man with a strong scent has the potential to drive women wild. Read: The Scent of Attraction

6. He Is Affectionate. Though we women try not to let on, affection (be it an arm around the shoulder or hand on the leg) lights us up like fireflies. Consider it your secret weapon. By affection, we do mean to include expressing your feelings through words, such as "I love you." It's amazing how many hot men fall short of sexy just for lack of articulating and showing their love. Let's put it this way: There are guys who reach out to their partner while driving, and there are guys who keep both hands on the wheel and eyes straight ahead. The lads of the former group qualify for sexy.

7. He Laughs Loud, Hard, Often. No news flash here. Comedy is highly enticing. It's worth noting though that there are different types of humor. The insecure comedy that's based on putting others down or calling them names doesn't gibe with us. But give us fun-loving, belly-jiggling jokes and laughter and you'll head straight to the top of the sexiness charts.
